name: Heather Grant
city: Linwood
state: NY
Wedding Date:: 9/28/2002
Where & how was your wedding?:
My wedding ceremony was at St. Thomas
Aquinas Church in Leicester, NY. It was a beautiful ceremony even though we had
to have a different priest at the last minute (literally found out night before
that priest we had been working with for a year would not do the ceremony).
Where & how was your reception?:
Our reception was held at our house in a
40 x 60 barn we put up this past summer! It was a formal event but very relaxed
and everyone had a great time! It was catered by my brother-in-law's restaurant
(Mills Race in Mt. Morris) and they did a wonderful job. We even had a bonfire
later in the night as the evening winded down.
Where & how was your honeymoon?:
We went to the Poconos for our honeymoon.
It was the perfect vacation for us after all of the hard work over the past
year with planning and building the barn. We stayed in Jim Thorpe PA in a
beautiful old hotel with a jacuzzi in our room and a fireplace- it was perfect.
Favorable Comments On: Photographer/DJ/Florist/ Etc::
I have great comments all
around with my florist, DJ and photographer. I used Schoolhouse Florist in
Mumford, NY and I couldn't have asked for more picture perfect arrangements. I
used Whirlin' Disc DJ's and they did an excellent job- lots of great comments
from guests. And I used Royal Memories Photography- Mr. Cashmere did a
wonderful job with the photos- I'm picking up my album tomorrow actually!
What Worked/What Didn't::
We had to rent everything from tables and chairs to a
dance floor for the reception- this worked out well although we had to send the
rental ppl back a couple times because they forgot a few things.
Any Other Comments::
If you have the opportunity to have a wedding at your home
I would definitely recommend it. We decided that instead of putting a ton of
money into a party for one day- we would spend the money on making our home and
property perfect for a wedding reception and now we have a beautiful barn and
landscape for many years to come.
